By designing and producing around 80 million spark plugs every year, NGK do Brasil has the largest share of the domestic and South American markets. NGK’s domestic production is a world benchmark for technological processes and manufacture of spark plugs. It is also the supplier of original parts to vehicle manufacturers in Brazil, holding a dominant position in the aftermarket.
NGK do Brasil industrial park is located in the city of Mogi das Cruzes, State of São Paulo, 50 kilometers from the capital, and consists of 17 buildings in an area of 625 thousand square meters. The plant produces more than 270 thousand spark plugs on a daily basis. It means that around 7 million units are produced each month, following the standards of quality established by the company’s headquarters in Japan. In order to reach the company’s DNA in every item, approximately 150 processes are required, each of them followed by electronic and visual checking.
The plant in the Alto Tietê region also designs and manufactures ignition cables for every type of circulating vehicles in Brazil, strictly following the same Japanese quality standards. The Brazilian unit also provides special products such as technical ceramics and refractory rolls. It is a reference in the production of sophisticated porcelain tiles by offering a wide range of porcelain tiles that combines sophistication, harmony, modernity and high level of quality. NGK also sells oxygen sensors, detonation sensors and cutting tools in Brazil, under the NTK brand.

NGK do Brasil also holds the ISO 14.001 certificate, an internationally recognized standard which defines the requirements for an effective environmental management system of manufacture.
During International Environment Week, which took place the first week in June, NGK had bins installed inside and outside the plant, in order to receive waste that is difficult to discard. The company’s concern for sustainable development is shown by a reduction in the electricity consumption and the reuse of water from waste treatment stations for productive processes.
