P1. What is the function of a spark plug?

The function of the spark plug is to lead the high electric voltage for the interior of the combustion chamber, converting it into spark to inflame the air/fuel mixture. Although its simple appearance, is a part that requires for its conception the application of sophisticated technology, therefore its perfect performance is directly on to the income of the engine, the levels of fuel consumption, the greater or the lesser load of pollutants in the gases expelled for the escape.

It resists high voltages between 20.000 and 30.000 V, proceeding from the ignition system.
It resists chimical corrosion caused by gas and combustion gases.

It resists up to 50 Kg/cm² pressures.

It resists the thermal shocks, therefore it supports great variations of temperature, that can vary of 70°C (temperature of air/fuel mixture) until 2.000°C (highest temperature at the moment of the combustion).
