P8. What is a resistor spark plug?

Identified for letter R in the ceramic resistance. This spark plug incorporates of 3 to 7,5 k ohms (or in some cases of 1 to 2KΩ) ceramics resistance to attenuate the ignition noises generated during spark emission.

Characteristics:

It incorporates of 3 to 7,5 k ohms (or in some cases of 1 to 2KΩ) ceramics resistance.

It attenuate spark ignition noises.

It attnuate noises that interfere with car radios, mobile communications and cellular phones. It avoids also fuel injection control electronic systems incorrect functionning .

Effects of the elimination of resistance type spark plug noises
(compared to a conventional type spark plug)

As indicated above, the noises are reduced in all frecuency areas by means of resistance type spark plugs installation.

NOTE

For old vehicles the resistor spark plug does not affect the durability, performance or consumption of fuel. Moreover, it has the advantage of not to affect modern acessories, as CD player/ DVD player.
