SPARK PLUG WITH PLATINUM TIP REQUIRES ATTENTION IN REFFITING

NGK spark plugs with central electrodes and platinum patches present a guarantee that the 40,000 km replacement interval can be trusted without worry of failure or damage to the engine. Identified by the codes BPR5EX, BPR6EX, and BKR5EX, or just X, these spark plugs were original parts on many Ford and Volkswagen vehicles from 1992 to 1996.

During replacement, one should be careful to note the specific code. Spark plugs without platinum patches are also sold in auto parts stores and may begin to fail before the 40,000 km mark and damage the catalytic converter, which is very important in controlling emissions and pollution.

The main advantages of the X spark plug by NGK are quicker starts, even in colder temperatures; greater stability at slow speeds; firm acceleration; greater fuel economy and increased durability.

Some of the models that originally contained these spark plugs were Ford's Del Rey, Pampa, Escort, Verona, Versailles, and Royale; and Volkswagen's Apollo, Logus, Gol, Voyage, Parati, Saveiro, Santana, and Quantum. All were equipped with Ae/CHT (1.0 and 1.6 liters) and AP (1.6, 1.8, 2.0) series engines.
