NGK
RECEIVES QS-9000 QUALITY CERTIFICATION
NGK Brazil just received the certification for conforming with quality
standards QS 9000/ISO 9001 on its projects and manufacturing of
spark plugs, ignition cables and resistor covers. The company became
the only one in South America to possess the most demanding certification
for quality systems in this line of products.
The
QS 9000, created in 1994 and updated in 1995, by the Big Three automakers,
GM, Ford, and Chrysler, is based on the European standard ISO 9001
from 1994. It is a specific norm for the car industry and unifies
quality demands in the largest producer nation, with more than 12
million units built last year. Its philosophy is to develop quality
systems that promote constant improvements, failure prevention,
and limited variation and waste throughout the supply chain.
To
meet these objectives, NGK Brazil adopted a disciplined model and
a business plan that is capable of predicting and implementing investments
over the short and long terms. This certification reaffirms the
company's commitment to quality. NGK has been operating in Brazil
for 39 years and employs 1,300 workers .
